City of Sugar Land Partners with OnPoint on New EV Charging Stations

On March 18, 2025, the City of Sugar Land broke ground on new EV charging stations in partnership with OnPoint EV Solutions. The project includes DC fast chargers at Sugar Land Regional Airport and Level 2 chargers at Imperial Park Recreation Center.

Project details:

Sugar Land Regional Airport 12888-B Hwy 6 South, Sugar Land, TX

  • 4 DC fast chargers (Level 3) at launch, with room to expand
  • Solar canopy, high-speed internet, security cameras, and digital kiosks

Imperial Park Recreation Center 234 Matlage Way, Sugar Land, TX 77478

  • 6 Level 2 chargers at launch, with capacity to expand later

The airport chargers will support both public drivers and fleet use. The Imperial Park stations will serve residents, visitors, and the city’s microtransit service.

Ken Durbin, Assistant Director of Aviation at Sugar Land Airport, said: “Adding EV charging gives more drivers access to convenient charging while visiting the airport or using the park. We teamed with a serious group of experts focused on delivering a strong result.”

Beth Rosenbaum, Assistant City Manager, added: “We’re excited to offer this service to our citizens, clients, pilots, and passengers. We’re always looking for ways to expand what we can provide, and we’re glad to be part of this project.”

OnPoint is delivering the project with partners including Argent Associates, Influent Energy, and Uptime Charger. The stations are expected to come online in summer 2025.
